A (possibly patronising) reaction to the form of the question: please make the distinction between a platform and (an implementation of) a formalism! These two concepts are very often mixed up in the literature and when people talk about it, and they (the concepts) shouldn't. This is all fine as long as everyone knows the systems involved.
