Bob Carpenter: >Please please please don't let one funny review spoil your taste for >exporting ideas of HPSG to the rest of the world. Bob (and others), maybe I do not understand the aim of the HPSG conferences and beg for a pardon then, but I really think (together with Tibor, and hopefully some others ... if it were not the case, then, hi Tibor, we ll' make an HPSG conference just for the two of us !) that they should get the >>HPSG people<< together and to enable >>HPSG-internal<< discussion (where one can go right to the core of the poodle, since it is not necessary to explain ... see Tibors mail) on different topics - not necessarily ONLY on linguistic ones, so that maybe the "missionary work" might be among them. Further important point (for me) is that this is the ONLY such conference (OK, the only I know about) which met (up to now) this requirement, and if we turn this now into the combined categorial/functional/head-driven, then WHICH OTHER event will play its (previous) role ? And if none, does this mean that we really do NOT need such a discussion forum ? ( I do NOT say* we need it - I just ask.) karel oliva *and what I think is my business :-)
