Research position in NLP Research Position in the Multi-Lingual Theory and Technology Group at the Rank Xerox Research Center, Grenoble France site. We are looking for a specialist in natural-language software engineering with expertise in both chart parsing for unification grammars and in finite-state parsing, and interest in ways of combining both to create a natural-language processing system that is at the same time robust and capable of producing fine-grained analyses. Programming experience in C/C++ is a must. A Ph.D. degree is preferable, but master's degree holders with the right experience will be taken into consideration. The candidate should be able to work in an English-speaking environment, write documentation in English, and be willing to learn French. Other relevant interests are expertise/interest in preference mechanisms and in machine translation. The successful candidate will join a project involving a three-site team that has already developed substantial parts of the two parsing environments separately.
