lfg%lists.Stanford.EDU@uk.ac.essex.mailhost, lfg%lists.Stanford.EDU@uk.ac.essex.mailhost, lagb@essex CC: doug Subject: Book Reviewers saught Apologies to those of you who receive this more than once. I have just taken over as Book Review Editor of the Journal Machine Translation, published quaterly by Kluwer Academic Publishers and I am looking out for potential reviewers. The policy for selecting books for review is catholic: as a discipline, Machine Translation is at the intersection of several areas of Linguistics and Computer Science, but the interests of those involved tend to be broad -- the union of the areas, rather than the intersection -- and the choice of books reviewed should reflect these wide interests. Particular areas of interest include Theoretical Linguistics, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, (including Logic), Pragmatics, descriptive studies of languages and all areas of Mathematical and Computational Linguistics. Work on Speech Processing is also of interest. If you are interested in reviewing a book, or suggesting a book for review, please contact me. The following is a list of the books currently awaiting review. An up-to-date list will be available at: http://clwww.essex.ac.uk/~doug/BooksForReview.html * Geoffrey Sampson, Evolutionary Language Understanding Cassel, London, 1996.
