You could always try teaching with implemented systems. That way, people might be able to try out different kinds of derivations. Of course, most systems fall down in exactly the area of displaying derivations. But ALE, for instance, with Pleuk attached, does a reasonable job, as do some of the other systmes with graphical interfaces. - Bob PS You could generate a number of semantics-related exercises revolving around scope and derivability in HPSG.
