The Xerox Palo Alto Research Center is strengthening its research in Natural Language Theory and Technology. The NLTT group at PARC is known for its work in syntactic and semantic theory, grammatical formalisms, parsing algorithms, and computational phonology and morphology. Our theoretical results have also led to a number of practical language-processing applications. We intend to add two positions to our group. The first position is for a strong, independent researcher in computational linguistics who will extend and/or complement the current activities of our group and make substantial contributions to both computational linguistics theory and implementation. The second position is for a person skilled in the process of converting theoretical advances into real-world capabilities. The successful candidate will be a talented programmer with a good grasp of formal language theory, a sensitivity to current issues in linguistics, and some experience in bridging between research and development. If you are interested in either of these positions, please send a resume to both kaplan@parc.xerox.com and kay@parc.xerox.com (e-mail preferred) or by US mail to Ronald M. Kaplan, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, 3333 Coyote Hill Road, Palo Alto, California USA 94304.
